The effect of drinking the same amount of alcohol will vary from person to person. On average 1 12-ounce light beer or 1 shot of hard liquor will create a blood alcohol content level of about .03. This means that consuming 2-3 drinks, depending on the alcohol percentage, is enough to reach the legal limit of 0.08.

Minnesota State Statute 340A.502 states that no person may sell or give alcoholic beverages for the use of an obviously intoxicated person. Violation of this statute is a gross misdemeanor. In Minnesota, a person who has been injured through any actions of an intoxicated individual may also seek damages from any licensed alcohol vendor that “illegally sold” alcohol to the intoxicated person.
